Is asking for help a particularly American spiritual discipline? Everything in our collective DNA promotes self-sufficiency. We crave our independence, our ability to “get ‘er done” on our own. This attitude exercises our prideful muscles and atrophy, the very humility God seeks to promote within us. Might we become more like Jesus by recognizing our need for others? Our need for God?

Through engaging real-life stories, Kevan Chandler and Tommy Shelton share what can happen when we invite others into our lives—hardships and all. Ultimately, this is a book about friendship . . . the kind that God has called us to live in . . . friendship that goes deep and flourishes, not in spite of our needs but actually through them.
